Christian Preparation

Christian Preparation must be based on Faith and not Fear Most preppers are fearful for the economic collapse of America. Others are fearful that the world will end soon. On April 7, 2011 the business television channel CNBC premiered “Apocalypse 2012” their special report that the World will come to an end on December 21, 2012 which is based on the Mayan calendar. It showed how businessmen are making profit out of people's fear. Christian preppers should not base their actions out of fear, but rely on their faith in God. The Lord Jesus Christ spoke to His disciples: “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Lk. 12:32) “For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." (Rom. 8:15) “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Tim. 1:7) “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.” (Heb. 11:6-7) God's Protection is through Prayer and Firearms are only used for Self Defence Many preppers communities encourage their members to purchase firearms to protect themselves and also the food that they have stored. One of the often asked questions concerning the Christian Preppers community is whether or not they should also do the same. Christian preppers should distinguish themselves from the other secular communities. Here is what the New Testament clearly teaches regarding this issue. We are fighting a Spiritual Warfare Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints-- (Eph. 6:10-18) The Lord Jesus Christ's Teachings on the Use of the Sword “Then He said to them, "But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one. For I say to you that this which is written must still be accomplished in Me: "And He was numbered with the transgressors.' For the things concerning Me have an end." So they said, "Lord, look, here are two swords." And He said to them, "It is enough." (Lk. 22:36-38) The Lord Jesus Christ did not forbid the purchase of swords. In fact He even said, “ he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one.” He also said that two swords are enough. “And suddenly, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. But Jesus said to him, "Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? “ (Mt. 26:51-53) Here is a clear indication the Lord Jesus Christ did not approve the use of the sword to harm other people. In the Christian Preppers Community the possession of firearms should only be used for self defense and preservation.
